Houston Home Theater Design: 7 Factors to Consider
Are you looking to design or redesign your home theater?
Based on the size and dimensions of the room, every home theater is different. That being said, these are 7 considerations that should be taken into account before designing your state-of-the-art home theater.

Factor 1: Various Screen Aspect Ratios

(4:3, 16:9, 1:85:1, 2.25:1, or custom ratios) These ratios are based on personal preference. The 2:35:1 ratio translates into a true cinematic experience. It is one that we would most recommend.

Factor 2: Projector Screen Size and Brightness

Matching up the right projector and screen with the correct values for brightness to contrast ratios is key for visual impact and clarity.

Factor 3: Projector Size and Projector Mounting Location

(based on min/ax projector throw distances) These factors will be determined based on the dedicated home theater’s dimensions and the projectors throw ratio.

Factor 4: Seat Locations

(in relation to both sound and video quality)
Audio and seat placement should be considered in the predesign phase of your home theater. After the installation is complete, all audio equipment should be adjusted for optimal performance based on seating locations.

Factor 5: Sound Proofing

If you do not want to hear the home theater’s audio from your home’s other bedrooms or living areas, considerations should be in place for sound proofing the home theater. Simple steps such as extra carpet padding and wall treatments can make a big difference.

Factor 6: Lighting Sources and Design

If the room has windows located in it, you will want to either enclose the windows with drywall or use window blackouts to block out any ambient daylight when the display or projector is in use.  Any extra ambient light can cause for a less than optimal viewing experience.

Factor 7: Themed Home Theater

How detailed do you want your home theater to be? Themed theaters can be sleek and fun! Adding a popcorn machine, posters, art or custom wall treatments can really set the mood of your home theater experience.
Key Takeaway: These 7 factors are just the starting point when designing a state-of-the-art home theater. If you have any further questions, feel free to contact us 281-397-7700. We have a friendly staff that is here to answer any questions you may have.
